The Seated Liberty Twenty Cent coin was minted from 1875-1878. It featured William Barber’s Liberty Seated design and was minted at Philadelphia, Carson City and San Francisco. Only Proof examples were minted in 1877 and 1878. The Twenty Cent coin did not gain public acceptance because it was too similar in appearance and size to the Seated Liberty Quarter Dollar. It is the only United States coin of the Twenty Cent denomination minted for circulation.
